A Sincere Film!
I had a copy of this movie in my computer. Never really got a chance to watch it till yesterday. I was about to start with my work when I accidentally opened the video player instead of MS Word. I just wanted to check the copy of the film before getting started with my work, but ended up watching the entire film. That should tell you a lot about it.
There’s nothing to reveal about the story. Its history and known to all. The movie plot just covers the episode from the point where Judas betrays Jesus and gets him arrested till the point where Jesus is crucified and it ends at the point where Jesus comes to life again.
The entire movie revolves around this small episode. But obviously there’s not much of a story here. But that’s where the film gets different from the others. It doesn’t intend to narrate a story; rather it wants to cover in depth every aspect of the crucifixion.
The film was very well researched and beautifully executed. At one point I got so engrossed that I started thinking, how it might actually feel to be in his shoes. I think it’s the greatest achievement for any film when an audience connects with the film.
It doesn’t matter what religion or belief you belong. It doesn’t matter whether you consider him a Messiah or God himself. Even if you see Jesus as a normal human being, you will be touched by the film.
This movie is a narration of truth ‘ sincere and brutal. Needless to say it’s not an entertainer. You won’t enjoy watching it. It’s just a movie made from the heart with no intention whatsoever other than to revel in the greatness of Jesus.
