Anthony Kaun Hai?

Worth Watching

On any given day, I am more inclined towards light-hearted comedy flicks and tend to avoid the emotional K3G types. Unless story is “extremely” good then I won’t undergo the torture. The story and the execution is important for me. Rest all I can ignore or even endure.

I Chose AKH out of my sheer admiration for Arshad Warsi and Sanjay Dutt. I loved them in Munna Bhai and admired the chemistry they shared.

One has to be less on Ego to gel in so comfortably with so many different stars. Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi are just this kind of people. They fit in with anyone. And when you put them together you have created a dynamite combination.

Perhaps that is what the Producers thought. The movie was more cut-to-order characters for Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi. Anybody else would have shattered the movie.

The Story goes somewhat like this…

Sanjay Dutt is a hitman who has been hired to kill Anthony. Using his resource he reaches a hotel where Anthony has checked in. He enters the room and finds Arshad there. He has a policy that before killing he chats with his victims. He reveals that he is there to kill Anthony. And Arshad confesses that he is not Anthony. To convince Sanjay, he narrates his story has to how he became Anthony.

Arshad’s story…

Arshad Warsi is a small-time con man. Some events take him to prison where he meets Raghuvir Yadav. Raghuvir is there for a diamond robbery crime that he had committed. Before getting arrested he hides the diamonds in a safe place. Raghuvir offers him 50% of the diamonds if he gets Raghuvir out of the prison. Arshad agrees and does just that using fake documents. To avoid getting caught by the police, they decide to change the their identity.

They take the identities of two dead people. So Raghuvir becomes Rehmat Ali and Arshad becomes Anthony.

Unfortunately for Arshad, Anthony was a journalist and had witnessed a murder. The murderer wants him dead so he hires a hitman, Sanjay Dutt.

Sanjay being convinced of Arshad’s story sets him free.

There is a cute little love story involved between Minissha Lamba and Arshad. Minissha is Raghuvir’s daughter who helps Arshad get the diamonds.

In the end, Arshad gets the diamonds, the girl and a new life, courtesy Sanjay Dutt.

The movie has been promoted as a comedy flick and it does justice to the promotion. The viewer will not be cheated. There are lots of good movements and the execution is simply superb.

The duo entertains you with their sheer presence. Arshad, I believe has got a meaty role after a long time and seeing him, I can say he deserves it.
